At the beginning of the school year, I spoke to
the students stating the Etiquette class is a class that will change their
lives. The apostle Paul encourages
believers to live lives of distinction.
Our conduct influences how others view the gospel and so our actions
should honor God. We will use the Bible
and various resources on Etiquette to see how we live this out
effectively. Our class verse is Luke
2:52, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature in favor with God and men.” My hope and prayer is that the students will
apply this verse to their lives.
The students are compiling information in a
notebook to become a resource in days ahead as well to be part of their grade. Notebook checks, role-plays and evaluations
are examples of participation grades.
Writing a dialogue, making a table-setting poster, and planning a menu
are examples of project grades. These
grades will be added together each quarter for the report card.
I believe this class is a partnership between the
parents and teacher to help the students become the young men and women Gad has
called them to be. Parent involvement includes encouraging good behavior,
assisting in the kitchen when we get to the unit on Meal Planning/Entertaining,
driving on our field trip, and supporting involvement in Grandparents’ Day.
In Jesus,
Susan Walker
