I came to North Carolina to attend Duke Law School (please don’t hold that against me), and my wife, Lynn, and I moved here from Virginia with our son Justin (13) and daughter Grace (10) over 9 years ago. We are members of Colonial Baptist Church, serving in the children and youth ministries. I previously served churches as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader, and on committees. As an Assistant United States Attorney, I litigate civil financial issues for our federal agencies.
Our family has been immeasurably blessed through Christian education. Lynn’s and my parents were educators (and my Dad was also a pastor) who faithfully committed their lives to teaching others. We are very grateful for the teachers and administrators at GRACE who have made GRACE a ministry that teaches and guides those under their care in the truth and wisdom of our Lord as an integrated part of academic excellence. Jesus taught his disciples that they were like sheep being sent into the world among wolves and directed them to be “as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves” in Matthew 10:16. I love that passage, and it reminds me of the importance of teaching wisdom while protecting purity. GRACE is a great partner with our family and church as we do our best to both guide our children toward true wisdom and guard them from the evils in our world.
Our prayer is that each child at GRACE will develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be prepared to impact their world as our Lord directs. As our changes and challenges come, may God bless GRACE and continue to use its servant leaders to equip young men and women for service and success in all areas of life.
