Hello, I am Don Payne, the School Administrator for GRACE Christian School. I was born and raised in Macon, Georgia. I received my BA degree in Humanities from Bob Jones University in 1976. Later that year, I began my teaching career by teaching Bible, History and Physical Education at Brethren Junior High School located in Whittier, California. From 1982 to 1984, I taught US and World History, Government and Social Studies at Whittier Christian High School. During my teaching years, I also coached football, basketball, baseball and soccer. In May of 1984, I received my Master’s Degree in Christian School Administration from Biola University. During my first administrative position, I served as the Assistant Principal at Brethren High School. Over the next 18 years, I have served as Principal of Whittier Christian Elementary, Western Christian High School, South Hills Academy, Capistrano Valley Christian Schools and New Venture Christian Schools. I have also been privileged to serve on accreditation teams for the Association of Christian Schools International and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
I have been truly blessed of the Lord over these last 31 years to be given the opportunity to invest my life into the lives of His children and young adults. I am extremely excited and honored to be a part of the wonderful ministry of GRACE Christian School. It is a joy to serve the Lord together with you.
My wife, Linda, and I have three adult children: Brian, Mark and Sara. Linda worked for 17 years as an executive administrative assistant for Albertsons Inc. Currently, she works part-time for Hope Community Church. Brian, an architect, and my daughter-in-law Sara, live in Cary, NC. They are the parents of Ethan and Luke, my grandsons. Mark works for Progressive Insurance here in Cary, and is married to my other daughter-in-law, Brooke. Our daughter, Sara, is a manager at The Heron, a local restaurant located in the Umstead Hotel.
