Hey All!! I am the Latin teacher and Ancient Languages guru at Grace Christian School. This will be my 2nd year teaching after five years in ministry. My first year at Grace was really great and I am very happy to be part of the Grace community.
My wife, Lindsay, and I moved to North Carolina after meeting and marrying in Chicago. She is a nurse working at UNC hospitals. If you see her, ask her about her recent trip to Kenya!!
I am excited about our expanded Latin program at Grace. I am passionate about Latin because I value language, history, and hermeneutics. I received a BA from University of Chicago in History (which included a 4 month study-abroad program in Rome) and an MA from Wheaton College in Biblical Exegesis (where I learned Greek and Hebrew).
Students who go through the Latin program at Grace will improve their mastery of grammar and vocabulary in English and the Romance languages. They will also be exposed to the rich history and culture of a people that greatly influenced our own and also the history of the Church. And in every Latin class that I teach, we learn the art and science of "exegesis" (gleaning the meaning from a text), as we use our knowledge of grammar, history, and ancient culture to interpret the Bible and other ancient documents. I could go on and on about this topic, so I'd better change the topic...
To SPORTS!! Grace athletics are moving in exciting directions on several fronts. I was fortunate to be the assistant coach for the undefeated (20-0) Grace Eagles middle school girls basketball team last year. I can't wait for another great season with the girls under the leadership of Russ Wolfinger. My ultimate passion is for baseball. I played for four years at the University of Chicago and coached for a year at Wheaton. I am extremely excited about our young club at Grace that is getting more talented every year. And if you ever want a 45 minute conversation (read: "monologue"), ask me how the Philadelphia Phillies are doing.
