BONJOUR! My name is Pascale Rivard Fitts. I am happily returning to GRACE for a second year. I was born and raised in the province of Québec, in Canada. I am a native French speaker. I have lived in the United States for 26 years. You can say, I am really half Canadian, half American!
My husband Greg and I have been married for 15 years. We met the summer before I started college, and then we went off to rival schools! (I went to Auburn University, he went to the University of Alabama) We have 2 wonderful children - a daughter Maureen, (11) and a son Jeremie (9). They like UNC, so there's no problem there! We live in a great community in Cary. We have been in the Triangle area for 10 years.
Luke 1:45 is one of my very favorite verses. It says this: "Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished". There is no doubt, God has led me to GRACE to teach French and to minister to students. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to do what I am passionate about! I have loved teaching for as long as I can remember. I started giving French lessons in High School! I love sharing about my unique cultural background, and watching my students' progress as they begin to gain fluency.
Learning a foreign language is an incredible enrichment opportunity. My prayer is that students will not only obtain the language skills, but will also appreciate their neighbors around the world, as they explore different French-speaking cultures. After all, our goal at GRACE is to equip our students to go out and plant seeds in the mission field - whether that field is in their very own backyard, or on the other side of the world!
I am excited about my new classes this year. I am thrilled about teaching a French/Spanish Combo culture class as an elective for Middle School. (I studied Spanish in High School and College) I will also head up an "events planning" class, which will give students (and moi!) the opportunity to organize social events, as well as community service projects. I look forward to serving GRACE and the community alongside my awesome students!
