My name is Graham Wilson and I teach the Newspaper elective at GRACE. I have spent nearly 30 years in the news and public relations field.
I spent 13 years in television news as a reporter, anchor and producer. I worked at television stations in Roanoke and Norfolk, VA and in Charlotte and Raleigh, NC. As a reporter, I covered the police beat, the court beat, several hurricanes, the NC General Assembly, the 1986 NCAA Basketball Championships and the 1988 National Republican Convention. I have had the opportunity to meet and interview such notable people as Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Bob & Elizabeth Dole, Jesse Helms, Billy Graham, Franklin Graham, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Al Gore and Michael Dukakis.
After television, I went to work for the Governor of North Carolina as the Public Affairs Director for the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety. I served as the state’s spokesman for Hurricane Hugo and handled media relations for the Division of Emergency Management, the NC State Highway Patrol, the Division of Alcohol Law Enforcement, the NC Army National Guard and the NC Crime Prevention Division.
In 1992 I started a marketing and public relations firm in Cary. As president of PRStreet, Inc., I have directed a NASCAR Winston Cup Race Team, handled media relations for the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic and have an event listed in the 2002 Guinness Book of World Records. I also provide instruction on media relations and crisis communications.
I am a graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.A. in Communication.
