Creative Writing (Middle School)
This course will introduce students to basic concepts, categories, and techniques of creative writing. Students observe creative writing techniques by studying works from established writers of stories and essays. Students have extensive opportunity to cultivate their creativity by writing at length in combination with peer review and revising. Students practice development of characters, setting, plot, and mood, as well as reinforcing basic skills in sentence and paragraph development. Students also submit original work in the ACSI Creative Writing contest and receive feedback to help them develop as writers.
