Biography for Ms. Debra Barkett (formerly Ms. Hentzell)
7th and 8th English Classes, Creative Writing, Life Skills Class
This is my fifth year teaching at GRACE, and I am so excited to be serving in this ministry. Our family lives in Clayton in Johnston County, and we have been in this area for over nineteen years. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and have lived in Springfield, Missouri; St. Louis, Missouri; Indiana (near Chicago); north Florida and south Georgia. I have fifteen years of teaching experience, in addition to home-schooling for several years and working in church and youth ministry for many years. My Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education came from Hyles-Anderson College in Indiana, with minors in business, home economics, and Bible. I also obtained a Master's Degree in Education and English and have earned my lifetime professional accreditation certificate with ACSI. Nathan, my oldest son, is 22 years old and works at GI Auto as a mechanic, as well as being an artist on the side. My youngest son Ben jis working at Bojangles and is planning to attend Johnston Community College or Wake Tech and pursue law enforcement. I attend Hope Community Church and lead a singles small group! We have one cat, Precious, and two BIG dogs: Khodjo, who is a Rhodesian Ridgeback, weighing almost 120 pounds and Cody, a Rhodesian mix weighing about 65 pounds. I am enjoying being part of the Grace family.
