I am proud to say that I am a North Carolinian by birth.  I was born and grew up in Elon College, now called “Elon” since the college reached university status.  I was blessed with Christian parents and a strong extended family.  I have one brother, Terry, who is now a pastor in Elon.  One of the greatest testimonies to my parents’ influence and guidance is the fact that both my brother and I are both involved in full-time ministry.

I attended elementary, junior high and high school in Alamance County and graduated from Western Alamance High School in 1970.  I graduated from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education.  I later returned to school for courses in Elementary Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

I have had the privilege of being involved in Christian education for over thirty years.  I have been involved in various Christian school organizations and have taught a number of workshops at teacher conferences.  During my years in Christian education, I have taught kindergarten through sixth grade, served as elementary school principal, assistant principal, and principal.  I now serve as elementary principal at GRACE and am responsible for the daily operations of our kindergarten through sixth grade campus. I taught at GRACE when it was Mount Olivet Christian School and have served as assistant or elementary principal since 1996.  My entire adult life has been devoted to children, both in schools and churches.  I believe very strongly in the partnership between parents, churches and Christian schools.

My husband G.W. (sometimes called Great and Wonderful) and I have been married for 36 years.  We moved to Raleigh in 1985 and thoroughly enjoy the area.

One of my greatest joys in life was becoming a mother.  My beautiful daughter, Krista, and her husband live in Greensboro.  They have given me the privilege of being called “Grandma” by blessing me with two beautiful grandchildren.  Isaiah is 4 years old and has just started preschool.  He is a busy little boy who enjoys life to its fullest.  Everything is an adventure to him; we love taking “adventure walks” and reading books together.  Jayden is seven months old and is busy “talking,” crawling, and discovering all about everything.  I often tell folks that having these two little ones around is the greatest stress relief in the world.  God is so good!

My husband and I are actively involved members at First Assembly of God in Raleigh.
Our church is a very mission-minded church heavily involved in local and global missions.  One of the ministries I am involved with there is Royal Family Kids’ Camp™, (www.rfkc.org)  a ministry to the abused and neglected children in Wake County foster care.  I serve as the director for our summer camp and coordinate our church’s foster care ministries with Wake County Human Services.  I also minister to children in South Africa through my church’s partnership with Reaching a Generation, a ministry to children in South Africa.  (www.rag-us.org)

I love to read and travel and enjoy music and herb gardening.  I enjoy spending time with my family, whether it’s at our annual week at the beach or cheering on our North Carolina Tar Heels!

It is a privilege to serve at GRACE.  God has blessed our school over the years in so many ways.  Among the greatest of those blessings are the people that make up the GRACE community.  It is exciting to see the many ways our teachers, students, and families are impacting the world for Jesus Christ.
