My name is Merrily Boyd, and I am excited to be back for my fourth year at GRACE as the elementary art teacher!

I grew up in Raleigh and graduated in 2004 from Meredith College with a BA in Studio Art and Art History. I also spent a semester of my senior year studying at the Burren College of Art in County Clare, Ireland. I worked as a gallery assistant at ArtSource Fine Art Galleries in Raleigh and also as a freelance artist (focusing on painting and illustration) before finding my way to the teaching field, which I truly love! God has blessed me greatly by guiding me to GRACE Christian School. I am currently working toward my Masters in Elementary Education at NCSU and toward ACSI certification, and I hope to be teaching art for many more years!

In kindergarten through fifth grades, art is about exploration...I encourage my students to be creative, to discover their talents, and to have fun while learning! We learn about the art elements as well as many well-known artists, and many of our projects correspond to the curriculum units studied in students' classrooms during the year. I am proud to hang student artwork in the hallways of GRACE and to display examples of students' art at community events such as the North Carolina State Fair, the ACSI Art Festival, the Visual Art Exchange Young Artist's Exhibition, Crabtree Valley Mall, and the Barnes and Noble Book Fair, to name a few.
