Theatre (Middle/ High School)

GRACE Christian School is proud to offer Middle and High School students the opportunity to shine on stage! Students are able to participate in extracurricular productions in the fall and spring. Past productions include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Prince Eugene and the Cinder Queen, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Don't Rock the Boat, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Beauty IS a Beast, The Model Millionaire, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

 

This class is designed to give an introduction to theatre arts as well as provide opportunities for students to develop skills and talents in theatre. Students will develop a basic understanding of theatre concepts. Students also have the opportunity to learn and participate in technical theatre as well as acting development. Some of the topics that we focus on in this class are:

  • Technical theatre - set, lights, make-up, costumes, sound, props, etc.
  • Aspects of a scene or play - plot, theme, characters, etc.
  • Stage movement
  • Projection and Articulation
  • Improvisation
  • Monologues
  • Acting skills
  • Characterization
  • Dialogues and scenes
  • Writing for the stage
  • Preparing for a performance
