Hello! My name is Katherine (Kat) Whelpley. It's hard to believe that I'm in my 7th year of teaching! Though it is only my 2nd year at GRACE, I've already fallen in love with this school! I praise God for the privilege of teaching at such a unique place. My husband, Isaiah, teaches History and Bible at the upper campus. We have been married for five wonderful years. We do not have any children yet; however, we have a sweet miniature Schnauzer named Sara. We moved from Southern California to the Raleigh area in August 2009 to help with a church plant that our close friends started a few years ago. We bought our first house last February in Apex and already feel right at home!
I was born and raised in the Phoenix area of Arizona. Then, I moved to Fullerton, California (about 15 minutes from Disneyland) and attended Hope International University, where I met Isaiah. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts. After my undergraduate work, I went to Cal State Fullerton and received my teaching credential for elementary education. I taught second grade at a Christian school in California for five years. Teaching children is my passion and calling in life. I am so thankful that God has led me to teach here at GRACE!
