Staff Spotlight: Alissa Rassette

GRACE is excited to have “Nurse Alissa” join our staff. Alissa earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at East Carolina University in 2004 and comes to us with seven years of experience in a variety of settings including post cardiac-surgery, oral surgery, occupational health and pharmaceuticals.

As a high school student, Alissa was involved in many school athletic teams including volleyball and basketball, but her most memorable sports moment was when her softball team won the Division 2A state championship game. When not participating in sports, Alissa enjoys watching football, basketball, and Carolina Hurricanes hockey.

Alissa quotes Hebrews 10:24 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds” as a verse that both portrays her calling as a nurse and serves as a guidepost for how she strives to live her life. She loves taking care of people, and especially the children at GRACE. She tries to instill this caring attitude in her second-grade son by showing him ways to be thoughtful and caring to other people without seeking recognition for himself. Alissa is a fan of random and anonymous acts of kindness and hopes that her son will learn to do the same.

Alissa and her husband, Chad, have a special connection to the number 711. They met on July 11th at a concert. It was a July 11th when Chad was praying for God to confirm that marrying Alissa was God’s will. That morning he was driving behind a car with a license plate that ended in 0711 and the bill for his bagel-to-go breakfast was $7.11! The engagement ring was bought that very day. It would seem apropos for July 11th to be their anniversary, but alas they were married in June in Virgin Gorda (part of the British Virgin Islands) in 2008.

The Rassettes joined the GRACE family last year and were overwhelmed by how welcoming the GRACE community was. Now Alissa is enjoying seeing GRACE from a different perspective, including being the target of Mr. Kenny’s relentless goal to sneak up and startle the lower campus staff. As you can imagine, students love when this happens!

Alissa and her family attend Midtown Community Church in Raleigh. When she has free time, Alissa enjoys boating at the beach, traveling, exercising, watching sports, cooking, and reading.
