THANK YOU, TEACHERS

GRACE parent Jeff Trower put together a wonderful video tribute to our GRACE teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week. Make sure to check it out. We love you, teachers!

FRIDAY FACEBOOK BINGO

This Friday, following our Lower Campus Chapel (via Facebook Live) the Whelpleys are hosting a virtual game of GRACEVLE Bingo around 9:30 a.m. They will start a new live Facebook video specifically for the Bingo game. See the options below to get your bingo card(s) to participate. This is open to everyone in the family. Families without Facebook accounts can still participate in both the Chapel and the Bingo game.

Simply CLICK HERE to access the official GRACE Christian Facebook page.

Option #1: CLICK HERE to access the bingo card online. Using this link you can click new card to clear your card and get a new one.

Option #2: Printable Bingo Cards are available.  Print a card (or a few) to use and mark as you go. There are a number 20+ pages in this pdf so be sure to select only 1 page.

We are excited about this fun opportunity. We will give SHOUT-OUTS to winners, but it would be ideal if parents have a small prize for their children when a Bingo is achieved. Contact Mr. Whelpley at iwhelpley@gracechristian.net with questions.

THE MEMORY PROJECT

The Memory Project is a nonprofit organization that invites students to create portraits for youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, and extreme poverty. The goals of the portraits are to help the children feel valued and important, to know that many people care about their well being, and to act as meaningful pieces of personal history in the future. Since 2004, the Memory Project has created more than 160,000+ portraits for children in 55 countries.  www.memoryproject.org

Again this year, GRACE high school 2D Art and Advanced Art classes have created portraits for orphans and underprivileged children in Russia as part of the Memory Project. We’ve participated in this project for several years. It gives our art students the opportunity to creatively practice kindness and global awareness.

GIVING TUESDAY

Today is Giving Tuesday. Under normal circumstances, this would be a time we would share an Annual Fund request. However, this year we are asking you to consider something completely different. The COVID-19 shutdown has placed a strain on many of our local churches as they deal with decreased tithes and greater demands for support. To that end, as you are able, we encourage you to support your home church or local church ministry during this year’s Giving Tuesday.

YOU ARE WHAT MAKES GRACE AMAZING!

Can we all take a moment to sit and reflect on all that has occurred this past week? I don’t think when we sent out last Tuesday’s Amazing GRACE that we knew what was in store for us in the days to come.

But we find comfort in knowing God did. Nothing that is happening right now has caught God off-guard or unaware. In fact, He is proven Himself so faithful in how He has equipped our teachers, staff, leadership, and families to respond to these unprecedented times.

Our technology and leadership team were able to put together a Virtual Learning Environment in less than two weeks that was so impressive, it has since been sent to the entire North Carolina Association of Independent Schools as a model for other schools to follow.

Our teachers, many of whom may understandably feel out of their comfort zone, have enthusiastically committed to doing whatever it takes to continue providing your children with an exceptional education that you have come to expect here at GRACE.

You, our parents and families, have been incredible in your outpouring of love and encouragement as our leadership team makes difficult decisions to do whatever is best for your student. You cannot even begin to imagine the depth of prayers that have been lifted to God for His provision and direction over this past week. Your emails of love, care and support have been so encouraging to us. We thank you.

In fact, the only complaints we are hearing from our teachers and families is a collective sadness over missing our everyday interactions as a school community – the laughs, hugs, voices and togetherness. So we are committed to doing everything we can to keep that sense of community that makes GRACE so special going. If you haven’t already, we ask you to go ahead and follow GRACE on Facebook and Instagram. We have so many exciting things in store to keep our community “together” online.

REMINDERS

#1: You and your family are KNOWN. VALUED. LOVED.

#2: God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called.

#3: We are all in this together! As you learn fun tips and tricks that you think other GRACE families may find helpful as we move to a virtual learning platform, share them with us a cbarnhill@gracechristian.net. We’ll compile a list of them to share in next week’s Amazing GRACE.

March Madness Missions Night will be on March 13th from 6-9 pm. Dinner for purchase will be served (hotdogs and pizza) and lots of fun games and basketball games will be projected on the big screens in the gym. All proceeds will go to Onthantile Children’s Ministry.

CELEBRATE GRACE RECAP

Friday night’s Celebrate GRACE was one for the books! Our attendees had the honor of hearing from the Lauffer family, witnessing the dedication of the David & Marilyn Martin Gymnasium, as well as learning about our plans for the Annual Fund to continue to grow and improve our school. To see pictures from this year’s event, click here.

If you were unable to attend Celebrate GRACE but are still interested in donating, remember that all donations up to $100,000 are going to be matched by an anonymous donor. Click here to donate – we will announce the grand total we raised next week!

If you won an auction item, make sure to coordinate to pick it up from Angela Morrison at the Lower Campus. And congratulations to Beth Marks, who won the $100 Amazon gift card in the auction registration giveaway.

LOST AND FOUND

The Upper and Lower Campus Lost and Founds are overflowing! Please make sure you or your student check the lost and found for any missing items before they are donated on March 12th! And remember to please label the inside of bags, boxes, PE clothes and coats with a Sharpie and we will do the best to get them back to you. Thank you!

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

One way the Lower Campus celebrated Black History Month was through a door decorating contest. Congratulations to Mrs. Colyer’s fourth-grade class for their winning entry. The class will get to enjoy a pizza party in the coming weeks to celebrate. To see the other entries, make sure you’re following GRACE on Facebook and Instagram.

REMINDER

With concerns about the flu and Coronavirus in the country, please remember to keep your sick child home! Students should not return to school unless they are 24-hours fever-free without the assistance of medicine. Thank you for doing your part in keeping our school community safe.
