Curriculum Overviews

Detailed information about the curriculum in each grade can be found on the Lower Campus and Upper Campus pages of this website.

Students in GRACE’s Lower Campus program (TK-6th grade) experience hands-on learning, differentiated instruction, and an active, collaborative learning environment. In the youngest grades, students are given the tools and the knowledge to solve age-appropriate problems by learning how to share, take turns, and develop the understanding that every person is worthy of respect and kindness. As students progress in their academic career, students gain foundational skills in reasoning while learning how to communicate with coherent arguments, and demonstrate personal responsibility.

Upper campus students are provided with ample occasions for self-advocacy, collaboration, and practical opportunities to think critically. Resolving conflicts respectfully, learning to prioritize, and investigating the application of academic subjects to world issues is a priority of the instructional program. Advanced Placement® and honors classes are balanced with opportunities to participate fully in fine arts, athletics, and community outreach. All are designed to encourage our students to develop their strengths and find God’s plan for their lives. Our goal is for GRACE students to graduate spiritually mature, academically prepared, and mentally confident.

GRACE affirms the importance of technology in education and was one of the first schools in the greater Raleigh area to adopt a 1:1 program. Over the years we have continued to embrace technology as a way to enhance the education process in all grades TK-12, while also building a robust list of class offerings that prepare our students for technology today and into the future.

The technology goals for GRACE align with the National Education Technology Standards for the Digital-Age Classroom, and incorporate the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards throughout the curriculum. Our technology initiative advances student learning and increases opportunities for creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. Technology tools are used to challenge students in higher-level thinking skills, inspire students to become lifelong learners, and prepare GRACE students for life beyond the classroom.

GRACE students of all ages have many opportunities to expand their understanding of the world beyond Raleigh, North Carolina. High School students serve local and distant communities and participate in international enrichment opportunities.

During each academic year, GRACE upper campus school students have the opportunity to participate in domestic and international service trips as well as enrichment trips to historic European countries. Additionally, GRACE has established a foreign exchange relationship with a Czech Republic secondary school hosting a group of students each fall, and with New Oasis, hosting secondary students from China.

Students are encouraged to care deeply and consistently for their local communities through volunteerism, and through GRACE-sponsored community service days each year. Students have recorded more than 10,000 service hours in the last five years. Since 2009, GRACE has also hosted Hoops for Hope, a charity basketball event that has raised over $100,000 for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
