I think the last couple of years has given GRACE a really awesome opportunity to differentiate itsself from education in general in and around the Triangle because of the hope that we have in Christ. And especially in a season like we've been in the last two years and Amber and I both, with our five boys being here at the school, being able to have conversations at home that directly dovetail off of conversations that they're having here school that allow us to not only be able to reinforce shepherding with them - how to have hope in the gospel - but also challenges and encourages us as parents, as well, to see how they're growing and to see the things that are being invested in them here at school. I think the intentionality that we have with every student that comes on our campus - whether they're in TK all the way up through seniors in high school - is to hit them where they are and to know that everybody learns differently and the different things that they need to be equipped with for that season, that time in life, are going to be different... they're always going to be on a spectrum. We always want them to know the love of God... and we want our seniors know that as well, so there are some basic things we want everybody to know. But how we get into that with them changes over time. And so Chapel is a constant with everyone no matter if you're in TK or senior in high school. Being able to have a weekly time together where you gather and are encouraged to have hope in God's word, and to have hope in the good news of Jesus coming in the place of sinners – like that's something we want everybody to know but our TKers just want to know that and accept that. Our seniors want to ask little bit more difficult questions. So we want to be able to make sure that in our Bible classes and our chapels, that we're able to have conversations that are age-appropriate that will both challenge and equip and comfort our students – no matter where they are. So one of our biggest goals with all of our students – we don't just want them to be consumers. We don't want them to just constantly be poured into because, obviously, knowledge puffs up. We don't want that to happen. We want to give them outlets to give back - and not just give back because they think that's a good thing to do, but because that's what the gospel commends us to to: to invest in others. And so whether that is Ignite where we have a spiritual retreat where we go away and we have an intentional time of equipping and give students an opportunity to show their giftedness... whether that's community service that we require of all of our students Upper Campus to be able to have those opportunities to get back, but that's Operation Christmas Child where we have families and classes that packs shoeboxes that go to kids who normally wouldn't receive anything for Christmas... whether that's mission trips that hopefully we are excited about being able to continue going on... These are all opportunities that we have to give our students an opportunity to show their faith - not just to not just to consume. And so we love when our students have those opportunities.
