Hello

GCS Super Senior Spotlight: Kaden Sigmon

Kaden

Name: Kaden Sigmon

Years at GRACE: 13 (Kindergarten - 12th grade)

Extracurricular Activities: At GRACE, I have been a member of the student council since the 3rd grade. I have held the positions of class representative for 7 years, president in the 6th grade, and school chaplain for 2 years. I have been a member of the National Honor Society for three years. I played middle school baseball and basketball from 6th-8th grade and I have been a member of the varsity baseball team for 4 years and am currently the captain. Outside of GRACE, since the 8th grade, I have volunteered as a Buddy with the Miracle League of the Triangle. I have also volunteered and been an assistant coach for recreational basketball and baseball youth teams. I have also played for the Southwestern Wake Sliders travel baseball team since I was 9 years old, taken 12 years of gymnastics, and 7 years of piano. Lastly, I am extremely honored to be recognized as the WRAL Tom Suiter Extra Effort Award winner in May of this year.

Favorite class you took at GRACE: When you have been at GRACE since Kindergarten, it is hard to answer this question!  Let me just say to all the teachers I have had over these 13 years that I have enjoyed all of your classes and I have learned so much! But hands down by far my #1 favorite class was AP Biology with Dr. Smitley. His classes are not easy but his enthusiasm, knowledge, and desire for everyone to be successful make such an impact! GRACE would not be the same without him!

What you'll remember most about GRACE: All the good times with my friends, who I know will be friends for life! Also, my varsity baseball, Coach Brewer, and the Disney baseball trip my freshman year. Going to Italy was also extremely memorable with Mr. Pibl and my friends! But right now, at this moment I have to give a huge shout-out to my teammates – the 2021 EPIC Conference Champs! Also, I know and will always remember,r that I was loved and prayed for by my teachers! I am thankful for a Christian education and the teachers and staff who want me to succeed.

Future Plans: I will continue my education at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where I will play baseball for the Red Devils and major in Biology. My big goal, God willing, is to do something in the medical field. We will see where He leads me!

Congratulations to Kaden for being named the GCS Class of 2021 Salutatorian and receiving Dickinson College's 1783 Scholarship. Kaden was also a recipient of the WRAL Tom Suiter Extra Effort Award and has received the following athletic honors: 2021 NCISAA 3A All-State, 2021 EPIC Conference Player of the Year and 2021 EPIC All-Conference.
